As we are watching the world cup games am busy learning some lessons about life from the games:
1) Each game is played for 90 minutes. after the 90 there are some added time to it. Same with our lives. We have the whole life to live. We either work hard to achieve something or we end up being failures. I love the fact that if we fail God gives us added time to our lives to make use of it. If we don't use the extra time then life will eliminate us from this contest.
2) The games are being played and governed by rules and regulations. Some of them are old some have just been introduced in this tournament. In life we have rules that we follow. We have God as our referee and and he Bible as our guiding document. We either play according to the rules or we shall be penalised. The Bible says the wages of sin is death therefore we don't expect to commit sin and live. There are consequences to every sin that we commit.
3) Each team features 11 players according to their attributes and abilities. They all cant be playing in the same positions. Its called team work. That's also the reality of life. Team work is very important for us to become successful. Even in our families we have to work as a team. We have different talents that can become so effective if put together to maximum use.
4) In each game we have terraces full of spectators. The same happens in life. We have people that are watching us. They are either booing us or are cheering at us. if we play better they will be cheering, if we miss it they will be jeering. In a game players are subjected to name calling and insults but they concentrate on the game. Their eyes are on the ball. That's what we need to be doing as we play the game of life. Let's be focused no matter what. There are people that will work to bring us down by making all sorts of negative remarks. Keep working, eyes on the ball, fumbi ndi iwe mwini.
5) If a player scores a goal its not him that wins, its the whole team that wins. We need to take away greed and pride in our daily living. Most of us want to take credit in everything that we do. We want to be noticed basi. Its always "me" "me" and "me". Its always "I" not "us".
To be continued............
